Dear Stonnington Tennis Clubs,

I hope you are well given the trying circumstances.

The health and wellbeing of our sporting clubs and participants is of the upmost importance during this time. Based on the latest Federal Government restrictions and announcements, City of Stonnington has decided to take the following action in regards to tennis clubs:

  • From midnight tonight, no form of tennis is to be played which includes casual hitting and casual court hire.
  • No access to courts is allowed and access to pavilions after midnight tonight will also not be allowed. If there is anything you need from inside your club’s pavilion, please make best efforts to collect those items tonight.
  • Council recommends coaching and practice sessions should not continue and if you have any questions regarding coaching, please contact Tennis Victoria.

Please keep up to date with the latest recommendations and Government announcements at https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/coronavirus.

If you have any questions in the meantime, please don’t hesitate to contact info@stonningtontennis.com.au

The health and wellbeing of our sporting clubs and their members is paramount. To keep our community safe, we believe it is our responsibility to take action and introduce measures to ‘flatten the curve’ and slow the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19).

The COVID-19 Community Tennis Guidelines for Continued Play, from Tennis Australia, suggest as long as members and players abide by strict health and hygiene guidelines, including social distancing of 1.5 metres tennis centres can continue to provide an outlet for physical and mental health for the community.

Council is therefore supportive of tennis facilities remaining open, but would like to emphasise that tennis pavilions/clubhouses should only be used to provide amenities to support on-court play, and should not be used for social activities during this time.
